A FAMILY TRADITION…the Yontz family barbeques for Conyers and like it!

   1987 was the beginning of this family tradition when Glenn and Jean Yontz and their children, Glenda, Heather, Cristy, and Glenn, Jr., opened the first Glenn’s Open-Pit Bar-B-Que on Highway 138 beside Kroger in the Conyers Village Shopping Center.

   From the beginning, it was the Yontz’s desire to serve their community through good food and community service. For the next eighteen years, Glenn’s grew into five different locations, Snellville, Lilburn, Stockbridge, and Covington with Conyers remaining their “home” location. Each location was originally operated by a family member.

 When the “rush to Rockdale” occurred in early 2004, the restaurant population exploded with most of the business being focused on the north side of Interstate 20 which dictated a most difficult decision for the Yontz’s. In 2005, Glenn’s Open-Pit Bar-B-Que closed its doors after eighteen successful years.

 Now, Glenn’s Bar-B-Que has returned with the same family and the same great food. The family tradition continues with Glenn, Jr. managing the restaurant, five of the ten Yontz grandchildren working and Jean Yontz being on premise. The barbeque is prepared exactly the same…slow cooked over hickory with no sauce added. The Brunswick Stew, BBQ Beans, Slaw, and BBQ Sauces are the same family recipes. Lewis Grizzard once said “it’s not a barbeque restaurant unless it has fried corn and peanut butter pie,” and Glenn’s has both!

 Rockdale is our home, our family, and family is all we have while on this earth….so, "come join us and become “part of the family!”
